Waldorf Astoria debuts in Germany

3 Jan 2013 by BusinessTraveller

Hilton Worldwide has launched its luxury Waldorf Astoria brand in Germany, with the opening of the 232-room Waldorf Astoria Berlin.

The hotel is located within the new 118-metre high Zoofenster skyscraper in Berlin’s City affluent Charlottenburg district, and features an interior design based on “a timeless yet contemporary interpretation of art deco style”.

Food and beverage options include Les Solistes by Pierre Gagnaire, a fine dining restaurant by the Michelin-starred French chef, as well as Romanisches Café, a new interpretation of the famous café which first opened around 100 years ago close to the hotel.

The New York style Lang Bar serves cocktails and artisan beers, while Peacock Alley offers afternoon teas “in the shadow of the famous Waldorf Astoria grandfather clock”.

The property also features a 1,000 sqm Guerlain spa, and meeting facilities including a 330 sqm ballroom and a sixth floor terrace for events up to 200 people.

Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria Hotels and Resorts brand now has five properties in Europe, the other four being:

  • London Syon Park, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel (for a review of this property click here)
  • Trianon Palace Versailles, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel
  • Rome Cavalieri, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts
  • The Caledonian, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Further hotels are also under development in Jerusalem and Amsterdam.
