Vueling to launch hotel brand

18 Dec 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling has signed an agreement with Hoteles Catalonia to launch the new Vueling by HC hotel brand.

The first property will open in Barcelona in the first quarter of 2013, located on the city’s Gran Via.

The hotel will be managed by Hoteles Catalonia, but “both companies will be involved in the design, interior decoration and commercialisation of the hotel, following the guidelines set by the brand image of Vueling Airlines”.

The 64-room property will offer standard rooms (with or without balcony), “top class” rooms (with or without balcony), junior suites, and a top suite with private terrace and outdoor swimming pool.

Other features will include a bar and restaurant designed to look like the inside of an aircraft, a breakfast area “reminiscent of a terminal”, and a reception area which “simulates the check-in desks with their conveyor belts and information screens”.

The property will also offer a fitness area, swimming pool and solarium, and all of the hotel’s rooms will be named after destinations on the carrier’s network.

Hoteles Catalonia and Vueling plan to rollout the concept to other cities “including the main destinations of the airline”.
