United Airlines has announced plans to fly non-stop from Washington to Dubai and Moscow from this October. The US carrier says it will ply the routes with a daily paseenger and cargo service from October 26, pending government approvals.

The Dubai flight will be served using Boeing 777 aircraft, with flight UA976 departing Washington at 2202, arriving into Dubai at 1850 the next day, before returning as UA977 at 2330, arriving back in the US at 0644 the next day. The Moscow route will utilise Boeing 767 aircraft, with UA964 leaving Washington at 1645, arriving at 0930 the following day, returning as UA965 at 1120, and landing back in Washington at 1535.

Both these aircraft types are due to undergo a revamp to install United’s new fully-flat seating in business class (see online news July 25, 2007). There are currently no direct flights between Washington and Dubai (BA offers connections via London Heathrow), while Russian airline Aeroflot offers a once-weekly Saturday service between the the US and Russian capitals.
