United Airlines will start a non-stop flight between Brussels and Chicago next year, as well as adding routes from Washington DC to Accra, Lagos and Bahrain.
The daily Brussels-Chicago service will commence on March 28, and will compliment the carrier’s existing Brussels-Washington DC route. The new service will be plied with Boeing 767 aircraft, with flights leaving Brussels at 1100, arriving into Chicago at 1315. The return leg leaves Chicago at 1800, landing back into Brussels at 0920 the next day.
The news comes as Brussels Airlines gears up to join Star Alliance on December 9 (see online news November 6), meaning fellow alliance member United will be able to offer onward connections for its passengers from the European hub.
Meanwhile United will start a non-stop flight from Washington to the Ghanaian capital of Accra from May 2. The flight will then continue on to Lagos in Nigeria. In addition United will launch flights to Bahrain (via its existing service to Kuwait) from April 18.
