United Airlines' second B787-9 Dreamliner route will be from Los Angeles to Shanghai Pudong airport.
From March 29 next year, the US carrier will deploy the aircraft on four of its seven weekly services on the route. The other three will be operated by a B787-8.
Then, on May 8, the B787-9 will be rostered onto the route daily, entirely replacing the current daily B787-8 service, reports airlineroute.net.
Outbound flight UA198 departs LAX at 1310 and arrives in Shanghai at 1745 local time the following day. Return service UA199 takes off from Shanghai at 2025 and arrives in Los Angeles at 1700 local time the same day.
United is the North American launch customer for the B787-9.
It has previously announced it will deploy the aircraft on a direct service from Los Angeles to Melbourne, to launch on October 26 (see news, February 21).
Air New Zealand will start flying the B787-9 from Auckland to Perth 11 days earlier on October 15 (see news, November 7).
