The Stafford turns 100… ish
Published: 09/02/2012 - Filed under: News »
The Stafford hotel on London’s St James’s Place is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, although the hotel admits its exact opening date is “highly debated”.
Kempinski took over the management of the hotel in 2010 (see online news February 8, 2010), and has recently completed a £6 million refurbishment project (see online news April 15, 2011).
Research has shown that the hotel opened “in either spring 1911 or early 1912”, depending on whether the property is defined as numbers 16 and 17 St James’s Place (which opened in 1911) or number 18 (which houses The Stafford’s Main House and was added in 1912).
Either way, Kempinski has launched a year-long celebration, with “new epicurean offerings, historic exhibits, and a plethora of promotions, trivia, and insider insight shared via social media”.
As part of these celebrations the hotel is offering the ultimate VIP experience – a £100,000 Anniversay Package, including three-nights’ accommodation in either the Guv’nor’s Suite or Penthouse, £10,000 dining credit at the hotel, chauffeur driven Bentley, Jaguar or Rolls Royce during the stay, private butler, a private dinner party for up to ten guests in the hotel’s wine cellars, custom-made jewelley by a top London designer, a private portrait photo shoot, and “exclusive London experiences” such as afternoon tea, a champagne trip on the London Eye and a speedboat tour on the Thames.
The package is available until December 31 – for more information click here, and to read our recent review of the hotel, click here.
