The Savoy to reopen in October

A date has been set for the long-awaited reopening of The Savoy, with the iconic London hotel due to unveil the results of its multi-million pound restoration programme on October 10.
The hotel had been due to reopen last year, but this was delayed due to “two key factors”, namely the poor condition of the hotel’s services infrastructure, and the discovery of original design elements that needed to be protected.
Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, which manage the property, is now confident enough to announce a specific opening date of 10/10/10, with reservations due to open two months prior to this on August 10, and rates starting at “around £350”.
The Savoy closed in December 2007 for an extensive restoration project encompassing the entire building, from the entrance and public areas, to all 268 rooms and suites, and the hotel’s bars and restaurants.
Among the new features include interiors by Pieree Yves Rochon, the reintroduction of a winter garden gazebo in the lobby, the remodelling of River Restaurant, a new Art Deco bar going by the name of Beaumont Bar, the relaunch of all rooms and suites, and the addition of a two-bedroom Royal suite.
Business Traveller will be following the relaunch of The Savoy as it nears the reopening date.
