The Churchill hotel unveils latest Saatchi exhibition

20 Feb 2013 by ScottCarey7

The Hyatt Regency the Churchill hotel is continuing its association with the Saatchi Gallery by displaying a selection of artworks from emerging artists, and redecorating its signature Saatchi Gallery Suite.

The central London hotel began its association with the gallery at the beginning of 2012 (see online news January 31, 2012), but this time around the work has been plucked from Saatchi Online and most pieces are up for sale.

The exhibition is called Burning Bright and is the third such series taking place at the hotel, with works being displayed throughout the hotel’s lobby and restaurant.

Highlights include works by Daisy Clarke, who counts Hugh Grant and Jeremy Irons among her collectors, Jane Howarth’s Taxidermied Birds (above) and Ben Mayman’s dual acrylic resin sculptures, located either side of the restaurant entrance (below).

Works range from £10,250 for Lata Upadhyaya’s Reflecting Beauty sculpture, to £155 each for Christina Mitrentse’s Emblem/Flag I, II and III, displayed in the Saatchi suite.

The Saatchi Gallery Suite has been redecorated in association with the Republic of Fritz Hansen, with the space also showcasing its own selection of emerging artists from Saatchi Online. Celine Fitoussi’s bespoke wall-to-wall soap installation in the suite’s bathroom (below) remains from January 2012 though, and now features graffiti from the guests that have stayed there since.

The suite is furnished with pieces from the Danish designer Poul Kjaerholm of Republic of Fritz Hansen. Some of Kjaerholm's more recognisable designs including the PK80 daybed, the PK22 lounge chair and the PK9 dining chair feature in the suite. All furniture is also available for purchase.

The Saatchi Gallery Suite is available from £864 per night from mid-February 2013 until the end of January 2014, subject to availability. Guests can make a reservation by contacting the hotel directly on +44 (0)20 7486 5800, or emailing [email protected].
