Luxury London hotel The Cadogan is to close at the end of this month for a $48 million renovation project.
The 127-year-old Sloane Street property will reopen in 2016 under the management of Belmond, the new name for Orient Express Hotels (see news, February 24).
All public areas will be refurbished, and rooms will be reconfigured and reduced in number from 64 to 52, in order to "accommodate demand from luxury travellers for larger junior suites and suites".

Interiors will be created by GA Design International, responsible for other recent London hotel projects including Threadneedles (see news, April 8), St Pancras Renaissance (see review, November 2011) and The Corinithia (see review, January 2013).
The renovation will also add a new "gourmet dining experience opening out onto Sloane Street with views of Cadogan Place Gardens".
