The big picture: Thai’s A380 takes maiden flight

6 Mar 2012 by BusinessTraveller
Thai Airways’ first A380 superjumbo has made its maiden flights from the Airbus headquarters in Toulouse. The four-hour flight took place today (March 6), landing in Hamburg where it will begin the process of cabin installation and painting. Last year the carrier released a CGI video of its A380 interiors, along with a seatplan showing 377 economy seats on the lower deck, with a further 58 economy seats on the upper deck, along with 60 business class seats and 12 in first class. Thai Airways will become the ninth operator of the A380 when it takes delivery of its first superjumbo in the third quarter of this year. Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qantas, Air France, Lufthansa, Korean Air and China Southern all currently fly A380 aircraft, with Malaysia Airlines the next carrier scheduled to take delivery of the superjumbo.
