Vertu Constellation AyxtaLuxury mobile phone maker Vertu has launched the Vertu Constellation Ayxta, its first fold-down model created with travellers in mind. As well as the Vertu Concierge 24-hour assistance service, the Ayxta comes with City Brief – location-based information sent directly to the phone. City Brief includes restaurant recommendations, the latest exhibitions, shopping guides and tips on cultural etiquette. The phone itself is made from ceramic, leather, aluminium and comes with a sapphire crystal screen and stainless steel frame.

Apple Magic Mouse

Apple Magic MouseApple’s Magic Mouse, which uses the iPhone’s touch screen technology, is now available to buy as a standalone product. The device, shipped with all new iMac desktops, replaces the standard roller ball or optical mouse and differs from a laptop’s touchpad in that it responds to “intuitive finger gestures”. Building on the iPhone’s gesture technology, the Magic Mouse allows users to scroll, pan across images and move through web pages more quickly. It works with both right- and left-handed users and additional gestures can be configured. The device is rechargeable and connects via Bluetooth. Magic Mouse is only compatible with Macs running Mac OS X v10.5.8 or higher.

The ten megapixel camera has a 10x optical zoom featuring Fuji’s intelligent EXR technology for improved resolution, dynamic range and low-light performance. The camera also has pro-focus for greater depth of field control and an intelligent flash. Advanced face detection allows it to recognise up to ten faces. The F72EXR weighs 180g (not including the battery).

e-pensE-pens has unveiled a new range of digital pens which can digitize handwritten text as it’s written on a normal paper notepad. The E-pens Mobile Notes package includes a pen, its software and a rechargeable base unit with space for up to 50 A4 pages of stored text. The base unit connects to a PC and recharges via USB. The E-pens can also write directly into tablet PC applications such as MS Office. The E-pens Create software, available separately, allows the pens to be used for illustration and to edit photographs.

The Apple-certified iConn+ doubles the iPhone’s battery life and the slimline leather case provides protection. The battery pack charges via a USB connection and provides up to 300 hours of standby time, 24 hours of listening to music, eight hours of talk time, seven hours of video playback and five hours of internet surfing.

Blackberry Storm2Research In Motion (RIM) has launched the Blackberry Storm2 which improves on the touch screen technology used by the first Storm model. The new smartphone comes with a 3.5” high-resolution ‘SurePress’ touch screen, a 3.2 megapixel camera, 2GB onboard memory and a microSD/SDHD memory card slot. The battery has six hours’ talk time on 3G networks and 280 hours of standby time. The Storm2 will be available in seven European countries plus South Africa by Christmas through Vodafone. The first countries to get the Storm2 will be the UK and Ireland, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.
