Strike causes disruption at Frankfurt airport

Around 300 flights have been cancelled at Frankfurt airport today due to a second day of strikes by apron control tower workers over wage demends.

Reuters reports that "the GdF trade union called on 200 workers to strike after failing to reach a pay deal with airport operator Fraport", with almost 300 flights cancelled as a result of the industrial action.

The reports also states that further strike action may be possible next week, if Fraport does not meet union demands.

In a statement on the airport operator's website, Fraport called the strike "incomprehensible", and said that "The union remains completely intransigent and irresponsible in its demands for high, double-digit pay increases and other adjustments for working hours and special benefits ranging between 50 and 70 per cent".
