Spanish hotel group Sol Melia is to open its first property in the Middle East next year, with the announcement of the 167-room Melia Dubai in the Al Raffa area of Bur Dubai, close to Port Rashid.
The new-build five-star hotel will feature a spa, 300sqm of meeting space, several restaurants and bars, a smoking lounge and business centre.
According to Sol Melia the hotel will become the first property run by a Spanish hotel group in the Middle East when it opens in January 2011. The group recently recently opened a Gran Melia property in Shanghai in time for the World Expo (see online news February 8).
