6 Jun 2009 by Mark Caswell

As Sofitel gears up to unveil its Jumeirah Beach property later this year, Accor’s upscale brand has also announced five new properties across the Middle East and China.

The 439-room Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach is due to be unveiled in September, and will follow this with a further property on Sheikh Zayed Road. Slated to open in 2012, the new hotel will feature 435 rooms and 147 apartments, as well as two swimming pools, a fitness club, a ballroom and several meeting rooms.

Sofitel is also due to open a property within Abu Dhabi’s Capital Plaza next year, with 280 rooms and suites, a pool, restaurants, bars, meeting rooms, and a Club Millesime executive lounge. These announcements add to current Sofitel properties under construction in the region, including Pakistan, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile in China Accor has announced three new Sofitel hotels: the Sofitel Qinqdao in eastern China, and the Sofitel Dongguan and Sofitel Gunagzhou, both in southern China. These will join 22 existing Sofitel properties in the country.
