As previously reported on businesstraveller.com, China Airlines is to join the Skyteam alliance, with an inauguration date scheduled for mid 2011.
The Taiwan-based carrier will become the fifth Asian airline within the Skyteam alliance, joining China Southern (based in Guanngzhou), Korean Air and Vietnam Airlines, with China Eastern (based in Shanghai) also due to join the fray next year.
China Airlines serves a total of 93 destinations in 28 countries, and will bring four new routes to the Skyteam network - Okinawa, Miyazaki, Surabaya and Palau, along with its recently launched flights between Heathrow and Taipei (see online news January 11).
