It seems like only yesterday that we were writing about the inaugural flight of the A380. Just 15 months later and SIA is about celebrate its one millionth passenger onboard the superjumbo.

The airline says it expects to fly its one millionth passenger sometime in February, and is planning to surprise the lucky customer (and others on the flight) with a series of goodies. The passenger will be greeted with the news upon check-in and enjoy a special in-flight package, as well as gifts on arrival, including a three-night stay at a luxury hotel, and a chauffeur-driven limousine ride to the hotel. Customers in all three classes on the flight will also be presented with champagne onboard and special SIA giveaways.

The carrier now has six A380 aircraft in its fleet, flying daily between Singapore and Sydney, Singapore and Tokyo, and twice daily between Singapore and London. Emirates has so far taken delivery of four of the superjumbos, while Qantas currently has three. The Australian carrier’s A380 will be arriving into London for the first time later this week (January 16).

Looking on the timetable for SQ, it appears that they are running 3 A380's per day SIN into LHR from January?

Here in Changai, & they certanly seem to have quite a few A380 aircraft busy, & they prove very popular...

However, as they will not allocate Star All. award seats on A380, or 773 aircraft with their new Business class on board, yet another restriction on awards with them for redemption of miles getting into or out of UK? ...but the lounges are brimming here in T3, they appear to be ever popular!

Business Traveller replies:

Not sure which timetable you were checking MarkRoberts, but during January singaporeair.com clearly shows two of the London-S’pore services being operated by the A380 with the third one rostered for the B747-400.

I can’t see the A380 operating SIA’s third flight in the near future as passenger numbers on the route have dipped recently. You may have read our news piece from January 13 where we revealed SIA has decided not to operate its third London-S’pore flight (the one operated by the B747-400) on various dates between January 26 and March 26.
