Sheraton and Aloft are to make their debut in Bursa, Turkey, in 2013 as part of new plans announced by Starwood.

The 171-room Sheraton Bursa and the 133-room Aloft Bursa will both be located close to the Bursa New Cultural Green Park, adding more than 300 rooms to the “culturally-charged industrial” city.

The Sheraton Bursa will have 47 executive rooms and ten suites, plus two restaurants, a lobby lounge and bar, gym, pool and spa. A ballroom, five function rooms and a business centre will make up part of the 1,700sqm of meeting space.

The Aloft Bursa will have 133 king-size rooms with its “signature loft-like ceilings”, large windows, walk-in showers and free wifi. There will also be a bar, gym and a 24-hour snack area.

Starwood already operates five hotels in Turkey, with two more due to open later this year. But the newly announced Aloft and Sheraton properties will mark the group’s entrance into Bursa.

Roeland Vos, president of Starwood EMEA, said: “The city of Bursa is evolving as a metropolitan centre of culture, industry, sport and leisure, making it an ideal match for our unique and compelling brands."

Bursa is located on the southeast coast of the Sea of Marmara, around 235km from Istanbul, and is Turkey’s “fastest growing city” according to Starwood.

Starwood’s Turkish portfolio includes the W Istanbul, Sheraton Istanbul Maslak Hotel, Sheraton Istanbul Atakoy Hotel and Sheraton Cesme Hotel Resort and Spa. The Sheraton Ankara Hotel and Convention Centre and Le Méridien Istanbul Etiler are both scheduled to open this year.
