Shenzhen Airlines to join Star Alliance

Chinese carrier Shenzhen Airlines is set to join Star Alliance by the end of 2012, with majority shareholder Air China assisting the airline in the integration process.
Confirming the announcement Star Alliance CEO Jaan Albrecht said that the addition of Shenzhen Airlines would “allow Star Alliance to once again enlarge its offer across Mainland China and neighbouring countries”.
Air China has been part of the alliance since 2007 – Shanghai Airlines was also a member, but defected to Skyteam last month following its merger with China Eastern Airlines.
