Schiphol launches electric business taxi service

29 Mar 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Amsterdam Schiphol airport has launched a new wifi-enabled business and electric business taxi service.

A new joint venture between Schiphol Group and Connexxion has led to the innovative electric business taxi. This 100 per cent electric-powered car can cover a radius of 100km, making it ideally suited for a transfer into central Amsterdam or the Amsterdam Zuidas business district.

These green vehicles also offer wifi connectivity inside and the group hopes to roll this service out to the business taxis at a later date.

The non-electric Schiphol business taxi is a new version of the longstanding Schiphol travel taxi and offers a bespoke pick up service for business travellers, available for reservation up to four hours ahead of departure.

The business taxi service will transport you from the airport to anywhere in the Netherlands, apart from the West Frisian Islands.

To book the service customers can visit the Schiphol website, here. For English language options select the Union Jack flag in the top right hand corner.

Simply enter your time and date of arrival, your destination, how many passengers there are and if you have luggage. There is also a tick box allowing you to request an E-taxi.

At the time of writing business rates for a transfer for one person with luggage were €42 into the business district, €58 to the Amsterdam central rail station and €124 in to central Rotterdam.

Extra services such as an escort to and from the gate and check-in assistance are also offered.

Bram Drexhage, chief financial officer for Connexxion said, "Schiphol Business Taxi is a perfect fit with our objective of providing business travellers the highest levels of comfort and personal service - our core values.

“Schiphol Electric Business Taxi reflects our corporate social responsibility strategy, which includes minimising the environmental impact of transportation. We are proud that Schiphol Electric Business Taxi has enabled us to do so," added Drexhage.
