SAS to launch eight summer routes

21 Nov 2013 by GrahamSmith

Scandinavian Airlines will launch eight routes in summer 2014 including direct services to Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Leeds.

From the end of March, the airline will open the following non-stop services — Stockholm-Visby, Stavanger-Edinburgh, Oslo-Edinburgh, Oslo-Aalborg, Oslo-Aberdeen, Oslo-Chania and Copenhagen-Leeds Bradford.

Joakim Landholm, the carrier's executive vice president commercial, said: "SAS offers more destinations and a greater frequency than any other Scandinavian airline, and we will continue to invest in our offering to our customers.

"This last year we have succeeded in improving our competitiveness and increasing productivity, and this gives us the opportunity to open many new routes to serve our customers."

The routes are available for sale from today. Stockholm-Visby starts on March 30 and is the only new Sweden route.

The Norwegian routes are scheduled as follows — Oslo-Edinburgh will run from April 20 to October 11; Oslo-Aalborg starts on March 30; the thrice-weekly Oslo-Aberdeen starts March 31; Oslo-Chania runs from April 12 to October 11; and Stavanger-Edinburgh runs from April 10 to October 11.

And the routes from Denmark are scheduled with the twice-weekly Copenhagen-Leeds Bradford starting on March 31 and Aalborg-Oslo on March 30.

Earlier this week, it was announced that SAS and Singapore Airlines have extended their codeshare agreement (see news, November 19).
