SAA and Air Canada sign codeshare

11 Dec 2012 by ScottCarey7

South African Airways (SAA) has signed a codeshare agreement with Air Canada, allowing passengers to connect between the carriers in London on a single itinerary.

SAA will codeshare on Air Canada-operated flights between London and Vancouver, London and Toronto, and New York JFK and Toronto. This includes flights operated by Air Canada Express. Air Canada will in turn codeshare on SAA services between London and Johannesburg, New York and Johannesburg, and Johannesburg and Cape Town.

SAA and Air Canada have also received approval from the US authorities to make connections through New York, an option that will be added in the near future.

Both carriers are existing Star Alliance members, meaning members will be able to benefit from reciprocal frequent flyer miles accumulation or redemption through Aeroplan or the SAA Voyager programmes, as well as lounge access.

“This codeshare agreement represents new and seamless travel options between two world-class airlines with a deep knowledge of their respective markets,” said Manoj Papa, SAA’s acting general manager. “Travellers based in Southern Africa and Canada will benefit greatly from the convenient travel choices now open to them, thereby increasing travel between the two regions.”
