As predicted last month Ryanair will indeed launch its first Luxembourg services later this year.
The Irish carrier announced today that it will begin operations on September 1. Although a modest launch, Ryanair still hopes to carry 200,000 passengers per annum to and from Luxembourg.
Flights will initially operate just to London Stansted (once daily) and Porto (five per week).
Introductory fares priced from Euros 19.99 to either city are being made available until midnight on Monday May 23.
Flight timings had not been finalised at the time of writing.
Says Johan Vanneste, president and CEO of Luxembourg airport, “There has been a lot of speculation about the arrival of Ryanair in Luxembourg. Now we can finally confirm that this will be happening from September. Ryanair is the fifth new airline to decide to fly from this year.”
It had been thought that Ryanair would be transferring most if not all of its flights from Frankfurt Hahn (not too far away) to Luxembourg.
But the carrier will still continue with a limited service from Hahn.
Reports in the Dutch media suggest that rapidly-growing Luxembourg does not currently have enough space to accommodate all of Ryanair’s services at Hahn.
