Ryanair announces Barcelona base

Low-cost carrier Ryanair is to open a base at Barcelona International airport this September, with routes including a three-times weekly service to Edinburgh, and daily flights to Dublin and Milan.

The carrier already has a hub at Girona airport, situated around 60 miles north of Barcelona, but this is the first time Ryanair will have served the Catalan city’s main international airport (also known as Barcelona El Prat de Llobregat).

A total of five aircraft will be based at the airport, serving the following 20 routes:

  • Brussels (Charleroi) - 7pw
  • Cagliari - 3pwDublin - 7pw
  • Dusseldorf (Weeze) - 4pw
  • Edinburgh - 3pw
  • Gran Canaria - 2pw
  • Ibiza - 7pw
  • Lanzarote - 3pw
  • Malaga - 14pw
  • Milan (Bergamo) - 7pw
  • Oslo (Rygge) - 3pw
  • Palma - 14pw
  • Paris (Beauvais) - 7pw
  • Rome (Ciampino) - 7pw
  • Santander - 7pw
  • Santiago - 11pw
  • Seville - 14pw
  • Tenerife - 2pw
  • Valencia - 7pw
  • Venice (Treviso) - 6pw

Exact details of the flights will be available when the routes go on sale tomorrow (Thursday May 27).
