Royal Brunei to debut B787 on London route

13 Sep 2013 by Alex McWhirter

Passengers flying the voluminous kangaroo route have yet another option from which to choose.

From December 1, Royal Brunei will launch its B787 Dreamliner on the London-Dubai-Brunei route with an onward link to Melbourne.

Flights are already open for booking, according to routesonline.com.

Although Royal Brunei currently plies the route with B777-200ERs, these particular aircraft are leased from Singapore Airlines and have older-style seating.

The new B787s will 254 passengers in a two-class business (18 seats) and economy class (236 seats) layout.

Configuration will be six across 2-2-2 in business and, as expected, nine across 3-3-3 in the economy cabins.

More information on the seating will be available later, but it is expected that business class will feature fully-flat beds which will be an improvement on Royal Brunei’s current B777-200ER product.

Royal Brunei is a "dry" airline but it is understood that cabin staff will allow passengers to bring their own drinks on board.

The carrier offers attractively priced through fares between London and Melbourne via Brunei. And the plan is to extend B787 operation to the Brunei-Melbourne route starting in March 2014.
