Ritz-Carlton to open four new hotels in Japan and China

9 Sep 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Luxury hotel group Ritz-Carlton is to double its presence in Japan with new properties in Kyoto and Okinawa, and will also add new Chinese hotels in Dalian and Wuhan.

Ritz-Carlton has existing properties in the Japanese cities of Tokyo and Osaka, and will now add two further hotels. The Ritz-Carlton Okinawa is set to open in April 2012, following the renovation and rebranding of the Kise Bettei Hotel and Spa.

The hotel will offer 97 rooms, with views over a golf course down to the East China Sea. Facilities will include three “destination dining outlets”, a lounge and bar, spa, swimming pool and gym.

The Ritz-Carlton Kyoto will offer 136 rooms with an average size of 50sqm, and will feature two dining options, banquet and meeting rooms, and a spa.

Meanwhile in China the group is set to open two new properties in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, and in the northeastern seaport of Dalian.

The Ritz-Carlton Wuhan will be located at the top of the 606 metre-high Wuhan Greenland Centre, and is scheduled to open in 2016. The hotel will feature 330 rooms, 2,500sqm of meeting space, a health club, swimming pool, spa, and a choice of F&B options including the Ritz-Carlton Bar with “astonishing views over the city”, and the 119th and top floor of the hotel, which will feature “a glass dome were diners can enjoy their meals at an elevation of 545 metres”.

The Ritz-Carlton Dalian will feature 300 rooms occupying floors 64-81 of the 518 metre-high Dalian Greenland Centre, a mixed use development situated in the city’s Donggang CBD.

The group currently has eight properties across China, in cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
