Regent Hotels and Resorts has announced plans for two new properties in Boston and New York, ten years after the group last had a presence in North America.
The agreement with real estate development and management company Cottonwood Management, will see new hotels in the Seaport District of Boston, and on New York’s Fifth Avenue.
There are no further details on the New York development at present, but Regent said that the Boston property will form part of a three-tower, mixed use project which will include retail and residential space, and Regent branded residences and serviced apartments.
The complex, which is due to commence development in the autumn of 2016, will also feature a new dining concept – “a social club that will offer residents and hotel guests a fine dining experience and a place for relaxation”.
Regent has operated several US properties in the past, including the Regent Beverly Wilshire which appeared in the film Pretty Woman.
In 2014 Regent’s CEO Mark Lettenbichler spoke to Business Traveller about the group’s plans to re-establish itself as a global brand, with expansion plans for Europe and the US (to read this interview click here).
The group currently has hotels in Beijing, Berlin, Porto Montenegro, Singapore and Taipei. The Regent Jakarta is scheduled to open in 2018, and properties are also under construction in China’s Chongqing, Xian and Harbin.
