Qatar to fly non-stop to New York

Qatar Airways is to replace its Doha-Newark route (via Geneva) with a daily non-stop service to JFK from October 26.
The service will be plied by Qatar’s new Boeing 777-300 aircraft, featuring a lie-flat business class offering (42 seats with 78-inch pitch in a 2-2-2 configuration) as well as the airline’s next-generation in-flight entertainment system.
The move will reduce the flight time between Doha and New York from 17 hours to around 13.5 hours, with flight QR083 departing Doha at 0820, arriving into JFK at 1500. The return leg QR084 will leave New York at 2235, landing back into Doha at 1910 the next day.
As a result of the new service Qatar’s Geneva-Newark route will be scrapped, but the carrier says its Doha-Geneva flights will see an increase in capacity as the route becomes a dedicated service to the Swiss city using an Airbus A330 aircraft. Qatar says it will shortly announce additional frequencies from Doha to both Zurich and Geneva for 2009.
Qatar will also commence non-stop flights between Doha and Houston from December 10 – for more information visit qatarairways.com.
