Qatar confirms Sydney route
Published: 07/05/2009 - Filed under: News »
As reported on businesstraveller.com in March (see online news March 10), Qatar Airways will commence flights to Sydney within the next ten months.
An exact start date has not yet been given, but the carrier confirmed this week that it would add six new routes over the next ten months, including Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, Goa and Amritsar in India, and “two further cities in Europe”.
Qatar has previously been granted the rights to fly to Melbourne and Brisbane, but had held back until the Sydney route was secured.
Doha International airport is currently undergoing a $1bn expansion project, including the extension of its premium terminal, and a new transit facility for passengers with flight connections under 60 minutes.
