Qatar Airways will offer a three-times weekly service to Chongqing later this year, its fifth destination in China.
The new route will commence on November 28 using a two-class A330, with flights departing Doha on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 0115, arriving at 1305. The return leg will leave Chongqing on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 0100, landing back in Doha at 0500.
Qatar Airways currently operates flights to the Chinese cities of Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing.
Finnair recently announced the first direct flights from Europe to Chongqing, scheduled to start in May next year (see online news July 5). The municipality of Chongqing is located inland to the east of the Sichuan province, and has a population of around 30 million people.
