Qatar Airways has announced an expansion of its services to the Hungarian capital Budapest, with the current routing via Bucharest moving to a direct flight from September 14.

The carrier will also increase frequencies on the route (which launched on January 17) from three-times weekly to daily from the same date.

The new schedules will see flight QR947 depart Doha at 0900, arriving in Budapest at 1335, with the return leg QR948 leaving Hungary at 1730 and landing back in Doha at 2345.

Budapest airport has recently opened its new 24,000sqm Skycourt terminal, bringing together Terminals 2A and B. The new building has been designed to enable quicker connections for business travellers, and doubles the previous capacity of the two terminals to 8.5 million passenger.
