Qatar Airways has bought the Novotel Edinburgh Park.

The four-star hotel will continue to be managed and operated under the Novotel brand by Accor.

The airline recently announced it had bought the Sheraton Skyline hotel at London Heathrow (see news, March 3). It intends to rebrand that property under its five-star Oryx brand.

At the time, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said his intention was to buy further properties close to airports both in the US and UK.

The Novotel Edinburgh Park is located in a business park close to Edinburgh International airport.

The 170-room hotel opened in mid-2008 and has facilities including a restaurant, meeting rooms “for up to 170 people theatre style”, and an indoor swimming pool, gym and sauna.

Al Baker said: “The Novotel Edinburgh Park is an excellent addition to our travel portfolio, complementing our five-star hotel the Oryx Rotana in Doha and Sheraton Skyline Hotel Heathrow, making it easy for passengers who wish to spend some time in Edinburgh before travelling further afield in Scotland.”

Qatar Airways started flying to Edinburgh last year with one of its B787 Dreamliners (see news, May 2014). The service was upgraded to daily at the beginning of this month.
