Qantas to increase A380 London services

Qantas is to offer a daily A380 service on its London routes from both Sydney and Melbourne, as the carrier takes delivery of more superjumbos between now and March next year.
The Australian airline says it expects to take delivery of its seventh A380 in the final quarter of 2010, enabling it to serve its Sydney to London (via Singapore) route daily with the superjumbo.
The carrier will then receive its eighth, ninth and tenth A380s by March 2011, allowing it increase A380 services on the Melbourne-Singapore-London route from the current two times per week, to five-times weekly (upon delivery of the eighth aircraft), six times per week when the ninth A380 is delivered, and daily when it takes delivery of the tenth aircraft.
In addition Qantas will increase the number of flights between Melbourne and Los Angeles served by the A380, to four times per week with the delivery of the carrier’s ninth A380, and six-times weekly when the tenth aircraft is delivered.
Qantas says that more than 550,000 passengers have flown on its superjumbo aircraft since it entered the fleet in 2008.

A little off subject, but stories like this always make me turn my attention to BA and its global routing strategy. We all know of their love affair with the North Atlantic routes (and consequences of subsequent downturn in business traffic across the pond).
What surprises me is how they've given up routes to destinations gradually over these last years, whilst the destination home-airlines (so not just the mid-east carriers) have often increased traffic on routes to London and often publicly state London as one of their 'flagship' routes. I'm thinking Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, and one-stoppers like Melbourne and Auckland.
