Qantas has completed refurbishing the interiors of its fleet of Boeing 767 aircraft.

All 15 redecorated aircraft - which are used mainly on domestic routes including Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Darwin, Canberra, Adelaide and Cairns, and one international route to Honolulu - will be deployed on scheduled services from tomorrow.

The refresh has updated cabin interiors and in-flight entertainment. Cabin upgrades include leather seats in business class, new carpeting, lighting, curtains and dividers for the whole cabin.

Previously, the B767s did not have individual seat-back screens. Following the refurbishment, passengers in business and economy are now being handed iPads for use inflight. On these, they can enjoy over 200 hours of movies, TV programmes and music on demand, which will be increased to 350 hours by the end of the year.

Eventually, by mid-2015, Qantas will retire its fleet of domestic B767s, starting off with the retirement of the five B767 aircraft that were not included in the refresh programme, which will stop being used at the end of the year.

From yesterday, Qantas is extending the Select on Q-Eat service to flights from Singapore to Australia (see online news, May 21).
