Budget hotel brand Premier Inn is to open its first property in Qatar, adding to existing Middle Eastern hotels in Dubai and forthcoming properties in Abu Dhabi.

The group has signed a joint venture agreement with Dohaland Hospitality (which is also developing the Mandarin Oriental Doha – see online news June 28), to open a 200-room Premier Inn hotel in Doha Education City.

The budget brand already has three properties in Dubai, the latest opening at the start of this year adjacent to Dubai International airport (see online news January 13), and also has two hotels under development in Abu Dhabi.

In the UK Premier Inn recently opened its sixth hotel within five miles of Gatwick airport (see online news May 17), and is also developing a 267-room property close to Stratford International rail station, due to open before the 2012 Olympic Games (see online news March 10).
