Oneworld opens new lounges at LAX
Published: 06/11/2007 - Filed under: News »
Oneworld has opened its first purpose-built alliance lounges, located within the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
The first and business class lounges are a collaborative development between alliance members British Airways, Qantas and Cathay Pacific, and are situated on level 5 of the terminal building. The first class offering has space for 90 guests, with the business class lounge accommodating 210 passengers.
Facilities include showers, complimentary wifi access, refreshments, newspapers and magazines, as well as individual internet work stations, banks of plasma screens and a bar area.
As the lounges have not been developed by one single airline, décor has been designed to “complement rather than reflect individual carrier designs”, with an “‘outside in’ concept to evoke California’s sea and sand culture”.
The lounge will be open to all business and first class passengers with British Airways, Qantas and Cathay, as well as premium passengers from the two other Oneworld alliance carriers operating from the terminal (Japan Airlines and LAN), and Emerald and Sapphire tier cardholders from any Oneworld member airline (when travelling on an alliance carrier).
American Airlines, a founding member of Oneworld, also flies from LAX, but from its own terminal, which already has lounge facilities.
