Oman Air has announced plans to launch a daily service between Manchester and Muscat from April 1, 2017.
The schedules for the new service have yet to be released, but in a statement the Gulf carrier said:
“Oman Air, the National Carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, confirms, based on the requests for information received, that it intends to start operating daily flights from its hub in Muscat to Manchester. The new service is scheduled from April 1, 2017.
“The United Kingdom has always been one of the key markets for Oman Air. London Heathrow has been a flagship route for Oman Air and the carrier’s second daily frequency is a clear indication of the strong demand for flights between these two great cities.”
Oman Air launched its second daily service to Heathrow on April 12, reportedly paying a record sum for the extra slot. Its London flights are split between Terminals 3 and 4, due to space restraints at the airport (see news April 11).
British Airways recently announced plans to offer direct flights to Muscat from Heathrow – the carrier currently serves the city via Abu Dhabi (see news May 12).
