T5 running smoothly

Much to the surprise of the world's media, BA's partial move of its long-haul flights to T5 appears to have passed without incident.

After the debacle that was the opening of the terminal back in March, all eyes were on BA and T5 yesterday. But barring a few delays caused by US air traffic control, the addition of flights to and from New York, Bangalore, Beijing, Cairo, Cape Town, Lagos, Phoenix, and Abuja does not seem to have posed the problems seen at the official opening.

The smooth transition will go some way to restoring passengers' confidence in T5 and BA in general, and a quick look at the businesstraveller.com forum shows that recent comments have been somewhat more positive than the "Abandon hope all ye who enter here" posts of a couple of months ago.

Another 29 long-haul routes are due to be moved in September, with the remainder shifting the following month. We've put the dates in the diary, so be sure to check back here for the latest news (or lack of it) later in the year.
