New UK routes to New York

26 May 2016 by BusinessTraveller

Travellers based in Newcastle and Edinburgh can now avail of new direct services to the Big Apple, following the launch of routes by United and Delta.

United’s “new” service between Newcastle and New York JFK is in fact the recommencement of seasonal summer flights following their success last year.

The carrier has increased the service from four to six times weekly, with the route operating until September 6.

Flights depart Newcastle daily (except Wednesday) at 0910, arriving into Newark at 1155, with the return leg leaving New York at 1930 (daily except Tuesday) and landing back into Newcastle at 0730 the following day.

Meanwhile Delta will launch a new year-round service between Edinburgh and New York JFK tomorrow (Friday May 27).

The daily flights will depart Edinburgh at 1310, landing into JFK at 1543, with the return leg leaving New York at 2245, and landing back into Edinburgh at 1050 the following day.

Virgin Atlantic will codeshare on the route, as part of its transatlantic agreement with Delta.

Flights will initially be operated by 163-seat B757-200ER aircraft, with a larger 210-seat B767-300ER serving the route between June 9 and September 5.

American Airlines also offers a seasonal service on the Edinburgh-New York JFK route (with BA codesharing), while United operates year-round flights from the Scottish capital to Newark airport.
