New five-star hotel for Amsterdam

Readers looking for competitively priced five-star accommodation in Amsterdam should check out the new Grand Hotel Amrath.The property, which opened on June 8, has launch rates between now and the end of November.

The luxury 163-room property overlooks nearby canals and waterways. It occupies an historic shipping office dating back to 1913 and can be found along Prins Hendrikkade some 500 metres from the Central Station and 1,000 metres from Dam Square.

Rates start at Euros 200 for June rising to Euros 235 in July and August and to Euros 330 in September. Prices for October and November fall back to Euros 280. These opening rates include service tax, free wi-fi access, mini bar and 500 FFP miles per stay.

Guests will find luxury accommodation in Art Nouveau style featuring warm colours and modern comforts. There's in-room wifi, a laptop safe and a 32 inch flatscreen TV.

There are 46 deluxe rooms (24 to 28sqm in size), 88 super deluxe rooms (32 to 45sqm) and 15 junior suites (47 to 53sqm). The remaining suites open on December 1.

The hotel's Restaurant Seven Seas is open for dinner and a 250-square metre fitness centre comprises sauna and swimming pool. The latter opens on December 1.
