Mercure adds Gatwick hotel

8 May 2008 by Mark Caswell

Accor’s Mercure brand will add a Gatwick property to its portofolio, when it takes over the franchise of the Renaissance London Gatwick Hotel later this month.

The 254-room property will be rebranded as the Mercure London Gatwick from May 23, following a deal by Arora International Hotels to buy the property’s operating lease from Hotel Property Investors. Arora already partners with several other Accor-branded hotels at London airports, including the Sofitel London Gatwick and the forthcoming Sofitel London Heathrow Terminal 5.

Located around half a mile from Gatwick airport and close to the M23, the hotel will be the first airport location for the Mercure brand, and will feature two restaurants, as well as 2,125sqm of meeting space across 15 rooms, a fitness suite and wifi internet access in public areas.

Arora says it will undertake an “extensive refurbishment programme” at the hotel to bring it up to Mercure’s brand standard. For more information visit mercure.com.
