Melia rebrands loyalty scheme

22 Feb 2013 by ScottCarey7

Melia Hotels International has rebranded its loyalty programme, changing the name from Mas Rewards to Melia Rewards.

Melia has subsequently revamped its tier levels, starting with Melia Rewards and working up through Silver, Gold and Platinum.

Points are earned depending on status, with entry tier Melia Rewards members earning ten points per dollar/euro spent when booking a stay or spending at the YHI Spa, with Silver members earning 11 points, 12 for Gold and 14 for Platinum.

Melia Rewards tier members can book a free night on their birthday. Silver members can take advantage of a 1400 late check-out, Gold members can check out up until 1600 and Platinum up until 1800. Platinum members also get a complimentary upgrade to a superior room and free transfers.

To earn Silver status members must complete two stays, earn 5,000 points or stay five nights. Gold status is acquired with ten stays, 20,000 points or 20 nights and Platinum requires 30 stays, 50,000 points or 50 nights within a year.

Members can also choose to transfer points to airline miles with airline partners including Air Berlin, Air France, Lufthansa and American Airlines.

The programme already has three million members and produces 50 per cent of total sales at melia.com, according to the Spanish hotel group.
