Maxjet suspended its Washington DC service on Tuesday (Jan 16). The all-business class B767 service from London Stansted was launched in a blaze of publicity last summer. But the carrier says it will now concentrate its resources on the Stansted to Las Vegas route which began service last November.

"The Las Vegas service has proven more popular during the winter months so we will increase the number of flights to three a week starting in March," said a spokesperson. "We have found that Washington is busier in the summer."

The carrier says that services to Washington DC will resume on May 24 with four flights a week.

Meanwhile, Maxjet says it will relocate aircraft capacity to the Las Vegas route with a new Saturday service. Maxjet's other transatlantic link from Stansted, the service to New York JFK, will continue as before. Passengers already booked on Washington DC flights will be offered alternative arrangements.

In other news, British all-business class carrier Silverjet is on schedule to launch daily flights between Luton and New York Newark on January 25.

The airline continues to offer its £799-return introductory fare and has unveiled pictures of its cabin interior. Silverjet's 100-seater B767 will be configured six across 2-2-2 but the seating will be angled lie-flat rather than the fully flat version offered by British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
