Marriott to open first AC hotel in France

30 Jan 2012 by BusinessTraveller

The Elysee Palace Hotel will become the first AC by Marriott property in France, following the launch of Marriott’s joint venture with the Spanish hotel group last year.

Marriott announced plans to partner with AC Hotels in 2010 (see online news November 11, 2010), with the joint venture officially launching in January 2011.

The agreement saw over 80 existing AC Hotels properties being rebranded under the AC by Marriott portfolio, but the Elysee Palace will be the first hotel to join the brand since the launch of the joint venture.

The 143-room property is to undergo “an extensive renovation”, before reopening in early 2013. Marriott describes the hotel as being “within a stone’s throw of the old town”, and just 50 metres from the Mediterranean coastline.

Facilities will include hardwood floors and free mini bars in the rooms, as well as a rooftop terrace with outdoor swimming pool.

Amy McPherson, president and managing director for Marriott International in Europe, said that the group was “aggressively pursuing numerous development opportunities for AC throughout Europe and Latin America”.
