Luxury hotel group Mandarin Oriental is to open a 213-room, non-gaming hotel in the special administrative region of China later this year.

Mandarin Oriental, Macau is due to open in mid-2010 as part of the mixed-use One Central development, located on the waterfront within walking distance of the historic centre and with views of Taipa Island, West Nam Van Lake, Macau Tower and the hills of the south China coastline.

Features will include an all-day dining restaurant, bar, lobby lounge, cake shop, spa, fitness centre, outdoor pool, and meeting facilities including a 320sqm ballroom.

The property will actually be the second hotel by Mandarin Oriental in Macau. The group had previously owned a 50 percent stake in a property on Avenida de Amizade, but the hotel was renamed the Grand Lapa Hotel last year when the group sold its share in the property. To confuse matters slightly Mandarin Oriental continues to market this hotel on its website, and will do so for a period of up to two years.
