Luton to get second Hilton Garden Inn

Hilton Garden Inn (HGI) has unveiled plans to open its second UK property, and the second located close to Luton airport.
The 250-room property will be London's second Garden Inn as the mid-market brand seeks to build on the success of the Hilton Garden Inn Luton North which opened in August last year (click here for a review of the Luton North property). The new hotel will be located on Kimpton Road, five minutes' walk from the airport terminal.
Every room will feature HGI’s custom-made Garden Sleep System beds (with adjustable contours and firmness) and free high-speed internet. The hotel will also have a 24-hour business centre, gym, full-service restaurant, coffee shop and bar. Business facilities include five meetings spaces plus a larger function room, and a 200-space car park.
The hotel will be opened as part of a management agreement with the Ability Group, which last year launched the UK’s first Doubletree by Hilton in Cambridge. Ability Group has since opened the Doubletree by Hilton Dublane Hydro.
"This is a superb location at the heart of Luton's regeneration projects, next to the fast-growing airport and Luton Parkway station,” said Andreas Panayiotou, chairman of the Ability Group.
“Hilton Garden Inn offers high-quality and thoughtful amenities to travellers and I'm sure will be very well received here.”
In 2007, Hilton revealed that it hoped to open around 20 Garden Inn properties in the UK over five years (see online news May 24, 2007).
