Lufthansa to launch Gatwick-Frankfurt route

6 Jul 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Lufthansa will launch a twice-daily service between Gatwick and Frankfurt on October 30, adding to its existing flights from Heathrow and London City to the German financial hub.

The carrier will operate the route with two-class B737-500 aircraft, departing Gatwick at 0950 and 1740 (arriving at 1225 and 2015), with the return legs leaving Frankfurt at 0845 and 1625, landing in London at 0910 and 1650 respectively.

Lufthansa says the timings “have been scheduled to provide passengers with both a convenient connection to the heart of Germany and the quickest onward connections to Lufthansa’s worldwide network”.

With the addition of the new flights from Gatwick the carrier will offer a total of 111 weekly flights between London and Frankfurt.

There have been no direct flights between London Gatwick and Frankfurt for  several years – both BA and Lufthansa have plied the route in the past.
