The Howard Hotel to auction off contents

24 Oct 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Swissotel is to auction off the entire contents of The Howard Hotel, following the closure of the property for redevelopment last month, and just months after the hotel completed an extensive refurbishment programme.

Located overlooking Victoria Embankment close to Temple underground station, The Howard closed on September 30, with plans to redevelop the site and adjacent Arundel Court into mixed commercial and residential units.

All contents are now set to be auctioned off by Pro Auction of Bath on October 25 and 26, from bedroom suites to the contents of the bar, foyer, library and restaurant.

Interested bidders are likely to find items in good condition, considering the hotel only completed an extensive refurbishment project earlier this year, in preparation for visitors during the 2012 Olympic Games.

According to the auctioneers the sale gives buyers “the chance to set up a new designer hotel at a fraction of the cost”.

The sale commences at the hotel at 1030 (UK time) tomorrow (Tuesday October 25), and will be webcast via the Bidspotter platform.
