Le Meridien NiceLe Meridien Nice has completed an €8.5m refurbishment of its lobby, bar, restaurant and guest rooms.

The revamp has been overseen by French interior designer Francois Champsaur (also responsible for the Montalembert and Lancaster hotels in Paris), and covers 184 of the hotel’s 318 bedrooms and suites, all of which have balconies or terraces overlooking the sea.

The new contemporary-style rooms have been decorated in neutral tones, with “touches of red, light purple and blue to delay the intensity of the light”. Champsaur has included individual pieces of furniture such as high-backed white sofas, with the aim of recreating “a home-away-from-home”.

Other features include plasma screen TVs and beds with large headboards placed to give guests sea views when waking up, while suites have been redesigned to include glazed partitions and bathrooms with seaviews.

The hotel’s public areas have also been renovated, with white leather banquettes and mocha-coloured leather chairs in the restaurant, glazed partitions separating the reception and lounge areas, and stained walnut ceilings and columns in the bar and resturant areas, creating “a huge portico opening up onto the sea and offering great views of the old town”.
