All-business class carrier L'Avion is to double its service between Paris and New York this winter. The French airline says it has decided to launch a second flight because operations have "exceeded projections" – the carrier's load factors for June were 78 per cent, and it has carried a total of 14,764 passengers over the last six months.

Exact timings of the new flights are not yet available, but L'Avion says it will be ranked second in terms of weekly available business seats between New York and Paris once its additional flights have been launched. The airline currently flies six-times weekly (Sun-Fri) between Paris Orly and New York Newark, with the westbound flight leaving Paris at 1400, arriving in New York at 1645, and the return leg departing 1930, arriving in the French capital at 0840 the next day.

L'Avion flies Boeing 757-200 aircraft configured with 90 business class seats, a similar number to British rival Silverjet (100 seats) which flies from London Luton to New York Newark using a wide-bodied 767. The latter is also due to start a second daily service on July 31, and to celebrate the carrier is offering return flights from £799 for those who book before July 18. The new flights will depart London Luton at 1645, arriving in New York at 1945, with eastbound flights leaving the US at 2145 and arriving in London at 0945 the next day.
