Landslip causes Gatwick Express delays

2 Aug 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Journeys to and from Gatwick airport continue to be disrupted following yesterday’s landslip in the Croydon area.

A burst water main caused rail tracks close to South Croydon station to be covered with earth and debris, with Network Rail working to clear the area.

Gatwick Express is currently running a revised service, with half hourly journeys departing London Victoria on the hour and half hour, calling additionally at Clapham Junction and East Croydon. Services from Gatwick are departing at 20 and 50 minutes past the hour, also calling at East Croydon and Clapham Junction.

Southern services are also being affected, and South Croydon and Purley Oaks stations will remain closed today. Travellers are advised to consult relevant websites at gatwickexpress.com, southernrailway.com, nationalrail.co.uk.
